Happy Bitchday!

En todos estos meses de viaje, si hay una cosa que me carga las pilas cada día, son las sonrisas de la gente. Y para ti no se me ocurre mejor regalo que 27 de esas sonrisas, para que te den tanto buen rollo y energía como a mi me dieron en su momento. Las hay tailandesas, australianas, neozelandesas, camboyanas, vietnamitas, japonesas, laosianas... Aunque falta una claro, que es la tuya. Porque igual que con los tirones de orejas, uno por año cumplido más el de la buena suerte, la de la buena suerte será la que espero que haya en tu cara, por lo menos, en los próximos 365 días.

Te deseo un año muy muy muy feliz y lleno de sonrisas (propias y ajenas).

Popi's Day

En Laos se acaba de celebrar el Awk Phansaa.
Este festival conmemora el fin de la estación de lluvias y de la reclusión de los monjes en los templos.
A lo largo de todo el Mekong, los monjes budistas encienden farolillos y con ellos mandan sus deseos al cielo.
Yo ya pedí el mío, y ahora te toca a ti.

Sombras/ Shadows

Merece la pena ver más allá de las cosas, fijarse en sus reflejos o proyecciones. Me encantaban las cornisas de Melbourne. Pero las sombras que estas dibujaban en las casas eran todavía más bonitas, alargando los estampados y repartiéndolos por toda la pared.

It is worth to see beyond the things, look at their reflections or projections. I loved the cornices in Melbourne. But the shadows that they draw in the houses were even more pretty, extending the patterns all around the walls.

Suiza nos deparó varias sorpresas. Una fue la posibilidad de transitar el interior de un glaciar. Es precioso el azul, sí, sí, azul del hielo. Accidentalmente hicimos estas fotos que nos recordaron sombras chinas.

Switzerland kept some surprises ready for us. One was the possibility to walk inside a glacier. It's amaking the blue of the ice! We made these kind of chinese shadows accidentally.

Amarillo/Yellow!

Para llegar a un auténtico pub del outback australiano, tienes que recorrer quilómetros y quilómetros de carreteras flanqueadas por esta especie de "genista" australiana. ¿A que nunca hubieras pensado que la Australia profunda podía ser amarilla?

To find an authentic outback australian pub, you have to drive for miles and miles on roads garnished with this kind of australian "genista". ¿Did you ever thought that the outback could be yellow?

El cielo de Suiza es de lujo, como el país. No se merecen menos. Oler las flores de momento es gratis. No perdáis el tiempo!

Switzerland sky is luxurious, like the country. They don't deserve less. Smelling its flowers it's for free at the moment. Don't waist your time!

Arena / Sand

De la arena del desierto a la arena de la playa. De los canguros al coral. De calentarte frente al fuego a tostarte bajo el sol. Si, la vida del viajero en Australia es durísima!



From desert's sand to beach's sand. From the kangaroos to the coral. From heating yourself in front of a fire to sunbathing. Yes, the traveller's life in Australia is hard as!

Hace tiempo que formo parte del grupo de flickr La Vuelta al Mundo.

Iki realizó el Atelier de fotografía con su creadora, Jackie Rueda, y de ahí salió la idea del Antípodes Project. Así que este blog bebe de ese grupo, y le debe muchísimo.

Hasta ahora, sólo había participado en los foros de debate y me había recreado viendo algunas de las preciosas fotografías que realizan sus participantes. Pero este mes están de aniversario, y por todo lo que os he contado, me apetecía celebrarlo con ellos. Esta es mi aportación al tema de Junio: { TEXTOS }

I've been part of the flickr group La Vuelta al Mundo since a long time ago.

Iki did the photography Atelier with its creator, Jackie Rueda, and from there we took the idea for the Antipodes Project. So, this blog owes a lot to the group.

Until now, I had only joined the discussion forums and had enjoyed watching the beautiful photos that participants do. But this month is the group's anniversary, and for all I told you before, I wanted to celebrate with them. This is my contribution to de June's subject: { TEXTS }

Arte callejero/ Street Art

Si Melbourne está llena de vida, ¡sus paredes lo están más! Los barrios de Fitzroy, Collingwood y el CBD son auténticas galerías de arte al aire libre, y gracias a este tema he podido explorarlas a fondo. ¿Y sabéis que os digo? Que me gustan más que el MoMa, ¡y además es gratis!




If Melbourne is bubbly, its walls are even more! The neighbourhoods of Fitzroy, Collingwood and CBD are real oudoor art galleries, and thanks to this subject I've had the chance to explore them in depth. And you know what? I rather like it than MoMa, and it is for free!

Pues en Barcelona graffitis debe haber. Y además bastantes, pero yo no los he encontrado.
Debo admitir que me apetecía muy poco dar vueltas por el extraradio. No obstante tuve la suerte de toparme con una fiesta popular en la Barceloneta el día que fui a fotografiarlos.
Y creo que no hay arte más callejero ni más tipical spanish que unos hombretones tocando los tambores al son del pasodoble.

There must be graffitis in Barcelona. I am sure of that but I haven't found them.
I must admit I didn't feel like walking around the Outskirts of Town. However I was lucky to catcha a popular party in the Barceloneta area the day I went to photograph them.
And I think there is nothing more "street art" and more tipical Spanish that some big men playing the drums to the paso doble.

Y por fin las ventanas! And finally windows!

Al principio pensaba que las ventanas de Melbourne no tenían nada especial que ofrecer. Pero entonces empecé a mirar con cuidado, y descubrí pequeños detalles, texturas y reflejos que no había visto antes. Y ahora las ventanas de Melbourne son tan bonitas como yo quiero que sean. ¡De nada!

At the beginning, I thought Melbourne's windows had nothing special to offer. But then I looked carefully, and discovered small details, textures and reflections that I hadn't seen before. And now Melbourne's windows are as beautiful as I want them to be. You're welcome!

Cada barrio de Barcelona es un mundo. El Raval es muy peculiar. Yo no se si decir que tiene encanto pero desde luego lo que si tiene es personalidad.
Me encanta el contraste entre Melbourne y Barcelona. Nada que ver!!!

Each district of Barcelona is a world. Raval is very peculiar. I do not know if it is charming but certainly what it has is its own personality.
I love the contrast between Melbourne and Barcelona. Nothing to do!

Las Antípodas son verdes/ The Antipodes are green

Melbourne no es muy verde. Un par de parques con césped y poco más, lo demás son ventanas, paredes y graffittis. Pero oye bien mono que ha quedado, parece un flyer!



Melbourne is not very green. A couple of parks with grass and little else, the rest are windows, walls and graffiti. But hey the result is nice after all, looks like a flyer!

Barcelona tampoco es muy verde si no vas a lo obvio (que son los parques). Pero con tiempo y ganas todo se consigue. Si yo digo que es verde.... es verde!!!





Barcelona is not very green if you're not going to the obvious (which are the parks). But with time and effort you can get everything. If I say it is green .... it IS green!

Por que lo hemos elegido?:

1. Porque en Barcelona ya es primavera.

2. Porque Nueva Zelanda es verde, e Ina la echará de menos desde Australia.

3. Porque el verde combina perfectamente con el fondo rosa de nuestro nuevo blog!

Bienvenidos al Antípodes Project!

Este es un proyecto fotográfico para nosotras, pero estamos tan contentas con él que queremos compartirlo. E incluso, si sois buenos, os dejaremos participar.

Cada semana (o cada cuando toque) se propondrá un tema. Nosotras (Iki, desde Barcelona, e Ina, desde algún punto de Australia), buscaremos a nuestro alrededor imágenes que reflejen esa idea/concepto.

Los objetivos:
- tener un espacio común, donde reflejar lo que nos va pasando al mismo tiempo desde lados opuestos del globo
- divertirnos y hacer cosas juntas. Así que nos perdonaréis si, a veces, es poco riguroso :-)

Si os apetece, podéis mandarnos propuestas de tema semanal. Nosotras haremos el resto.

Welcome to the Antipodes Project!

This is a photographic project for us, but we are so happy with it that we want to share it. An even, if you´re good guys, we´ll let you take part of it.

Every week (or so) a subject will be proposed. We (Iki, from Barcelona, and Ina, from some point in Australia), will look around for images to reflect that idea/concept.

The purposes:
- having a common place, where to reflect what happens to us at the same time in opposite sides of the world
- having fun and doing things together. So, forgive us if sometimes is not very rigorous :-)

If you feel like, you can send us proposals for the weekly subject. And we´ll do the rest.
